A Loss...

March 12, 2010 this beautiful little guy left us for the other side of the Rainbow Bridge. Mister was one of my good friend and neighbor's furry children.  If you remember a few weeks ago I had a doggie sleep over. Well, Mister is one of my kitty wards that I visited and gave fluids to each day while my friend was out of town.

Mister was well-traveled having come here from Chile, lived in California and Florida(the places that I know of) and a wonderful lap mate.  He loved to climb up in your lap and sleep, purring contentedly. A beautiful loving animal with one grey eye, and one blue eye as you can see here in his picture.  He was 16 years old. I will sorely miss this little guy.

Not long ago, Jacira, my friend, lost another wonderful little kitty, named Starfish, to cancer.  Starfish with Mister pictured on right.

I don't know about you but a loss of a pet hurts as much or more than people.  Some may be offended by that statement but pets give such unconditional love and never turn their backs on you.  My opinion and as most of you know, I LOVE ANIMALS!

Thank you for letting me share two very special animals with you that I have grown attached to over the years.

Just this side of heaven lies the Rainbow Bridge.
When a beloved pet dies, it goes to the Rainbow Bridge.
It makes friends with other animals and frolics over rolling hills and peaceful lush meadows of green. They are as healthy and playful as we remember them in days gone by.

Together, the animals chase and play, but the day comes when a pet will suddenly stop and look into the distance... bright eyes intent, eager body quivering. Suddenly recognizing you, your pet bounds quickly across the green fields and into your embrace. You celebrate in joyous reunion. You will never again separate.

Happy tears and kisses are warm and plentiful, your hands caress the face you missed. You look into the loving eyes of your pet and know that you never really parted. You realize that though out of sight, you love had been remembered.

You cross the Rainbow Bridge together.

  1. Hi D~
I'm sorry for the loss of your furry friends. Gorgeous animals. I'm truly with you on the suffering we feel over their passing. My little siamese Cricket died 25 yrs ago and I still mourn her. She was like my baby. Love comes in all shapes and sizes and we love who we love for whatever the reason.
The heart holds no prejudice, nor do animals.

  2. Well spoken, Jack:) My losses of Kazzy and more recently Gypsy, my previous Shelties, have been overwhelming. I still cry when I think of either, in fact, I cried the entire time I typed in the Rainbow Bridge piece! It just rips a person up, but there's always the theory of the latter piece. I can only hope we meet with all our lost loved ones someday again.

  3. Hey Dayana,

I know your pain. We had to put my Rusty down on my Dh's bday. He was only six. I got him when Dh was away and he was my best little home improvement kitty helper. He got really sick there at the end, but I'm sure he's in heaven and talking to our first cat, making comments about us and giving Dh snow since he loved it so much.

I gotta tell you, there's that commercial for the ASPCA with Willie Nelson singing "You're Always on My Mind". Makes me cry even now. So I feel your pain.

    Hugs

  4. I'm so sorry, Dayana. Such pretty kitties. And I totally agree with you...humans can be fickle, but animals never are. They embody the spirit of true friendship.

    *hugs*

  5. Thank you for that heart-felt tribute to our four legged buddies. I woke up early this morning expecting to find Mister in bed between me and my husband, but then realized Mister is no longer with us. I "see" him out of the corner of my eye as I come into a room, or expect to find him on the cushion on the back porch, but no longer. I miss every four-legged companion I've ever had, and yes, they do give unconditional love. I am honored to count you as our friend and blessed that you are our neighbor.

  6. My heart goes out to you and your friend... I think few things hurt more than losing a pet. They really are like furry children, with their unconditional love. It's one of those things that we never *quite* get over.

    ((((hugs))))

  7. You made me cry. I love animals and I agree with every thing you said. It would give me hope to believe that five wonderful dogs and a very smart calico kitty, will be there to greet me. Funny, there is only one person I am dying to see even more than my animals. My grandmother. But to see them all again would be heaven for me.
    Miss you Dayana!

  8. Hi Dayana,
I'm sorry to hear about Mister. We lost our faithful friend, Bejon, last year and as a hard loss. With the kids out of the house he was the last vestige of days gone by and we still misse him. But on the brighter side the grand-boys rattle the walls from time to time!!

  9. Goodness! Hugs go out to you and your friend who lost one of her nearest and dearest soul mates. That's what animals become to us, a part of our soul. When they pass, a part of our soul goes with them and we are forever changed.
Prayers go up for you and your friend..and for all of our losses.

  10. Thank you all for dropping in and sharing a moment with my friend, Jacira and I. Mister and Starfish, as well my two Shelties, Kazzy and Gypsy, will be missed tremendously as well as all of your losses. That's certainly why we need to believe in that Rainbow Bridge.

I know I do else there would be no hope of seeing my beloved ever again.

    Hugs!

  11. I'm sorry I missed this. I love animals too. I have cats closer to me than most humans. And this brings home the fact that we outlive them. I hate to think about losing them. So sad, but true. Thanks for sharing this.

  12. I was so sorry to hear about your Mister and his friend, too. That "Rainbow Bridge" always brings a tear to my eye, probably because I imagine it will be just like that...someday.

It's so hard. Prayers to you and your little sweeties.
