A Blessed All Souls Day...

I've gotten up this morning and lit candles for all of those I've lost in recent years, people and loved pets.  My mind is heavy with memory and my soul heavy with loss, though I know they are with me always and I pray for blessing on their souls as well as those of the living.

May you remember those you have lost as may their souls be eternally at peace and blessed as well.

Of note:
Origins
Halloween is now celebrated beyond Britain and Ireland but it dates back more than two thousand years to the Celtic Samhain festival. November 1 was the first day of the Celtic New Year. The transition between the old and new year was when the Celts believed the souls of the dead and evil spirits could visit the living world.

The Catholic church moved All Saints Day from May to November, perhaps in an effort to contain the Pagan festival of Samhain. Samhain then became known as Halloween - the eve before All Hallows or All Saints Day.**

  2. It is amazing that we truly have any sense at all of whether we're coming or going, what with all the manipulation throughout the ages.

    Many Blessings, to you, Dayana

  3. Hi, Kaye and Laura. Thank you for dropping in.

My heart is heavy today, but it is with good thoughts. It's a new beginning and my loved ones are close to me so it is a good reflective time.

I know exactly what you mean, Laura. I tend to walk my own path and choose beliefs that make the most sense to me.

    Blessings to you both.
